Whole School Curriculum

We have been developing our school curriculum at St. Mary’s, making sure we are meeting the needs of all our pupils, providing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum and aiming to provide a Catholic Christian education based on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, in which the values of the Gospel underpin all aspects of our school life.

To this end, we have created the whole school plan (see below).  This plan is subject to regular review, as we strive to improve and enhance learning opportunities for our children.

As a Catholic School, the teaching of RE follows the Diocesan Scheme: ‘Learning and Growing as the People of God’, which is taught as discrete lessons’ but living our Faith happens in all that we do and opportunities for enriching this, in all areas of learning, are embedded into our curriculum.

We are aiming to:

  • provide a curriculum which is creative, imaginative, enriching, relevant and challenging, where children experience the opportunity to learn in a wide range of contexts.
  • broaden the experience of the topics for the children through off-site visits, visitors into school and shared experiences of the wider school community, e.g. involvement with parents and school links etc.

Please have a look at our curriculum document, which will give you a more detailed understanding of provision at St. Mary’s.  You can also visit our class pages.
