Falcons Class

Welcome to Falcons.

Our class teacher : Miss Fitzgerald

Our teaching assistant: Mrs Garrett

We are a class made up of Year Three and Year Four pupils; our teacher is Miss Fitzgerald. We also have Mrs Garrett who help us with our learning!

What we will be doing

We work really hard in The Falcons Class! We enjoy reading together and learning more about the diverse world around us. We study a range of topics that include The Stone Age, Extreme Survival, and the Egyptians. Just like our Class Saint, Cecilia, we love our music lessons where we learn about different cultures and genres. Our teachers make sure each one is really interesting and provide us with a variety of cross-curricular knowledge and skills that we will be able to build on as we progress through Key Stage 2.

Even though we work hard we also have lots of fun, as we explore a number of opportunities and visits which support our learning. We also relish the opportunity to have lessons outside when possible! In the summer term we take part in the school show, which is always great fun and a fantastic production.

What we are looking forward to

We are really looking forward to learning more about how they created cave paintings in the Stone Age and going swimming later this year!

An Introduction to Our Class:

P.E.

Our P.E lessons will be every Monday and Wednesday so the children will need to come dressed in their P.E kits on those days.

Homework

To support your children’s learning, each child will have a reading book which has been carefully chosen based on their Accelerated Reader assessment. These books will be changed as often after the child completes a comprehension quiz about it.

They are also expected to complete 30 minutes of TT Rockstars every week as this will benefit their multiplication abilities. Our Year 4 students are required to correct their CLIC test, which they complete on Tuesday, as part of their homework.

Additionally, the children will have an individualised spelling list every week that they will be tested on every Thursday.

Autumn 1

Over this half term, the Falcons have been exploring their topic ‘Stone Age’ across their curriculum. We have enjoyed reading ‘Stone Age Boy’ and ‘Ug: Boy Genius of the Stone Age’ in our English lessons. These stories have been incredibly interesting and have inspired us – we have even designed our own comfortable trousers just like Ug! Furthermore, we have been exploring our connection to the living things in the world around us in our Science lessons, and have studied Claude Monet in our art lessons.

The Falcons have thoroughly enjoyed their swimming lessons this half term – every one putting in their best effort to improve their front crawl and backstroke technique.

Autumn 2

Over the last half term, the Falcons have continued to explore their ‘Stone Age’ topic and have been looking at Stone Age settlements in the United Kingdom. We have thought about how these have changed over the time according to what the settlers needed. In Maths, we have been developing our multiplication and division techniques. The children have enjoyed climbing higher and higher on their times table challenge. We have our sights set on the Olympic level!

We were incredibly grateful to receive a visit from our local firefighters at Evesham Fire Station – the children were so excited to ask their burning questions and explore the fire engine. This visit has illuminated to the children how important their roles is in keeping themselves and their community safe.
