Robins Class

Welcome to Robins

Our Class Teacher:  Mrs Middleditch

Our Class TA:  Mrs Robinson

After what seems like forever we are the oldest children at St Mary’s and as a result we have a range of responsibilities. They include being House Captains, Sports Captains, School Councillors and Prayer Leaders. Every day we ensure that all the classes receive their fruit, milk and registers. During ‘Open Morning’ we show perspective parents around and also lead special events like the St. Richard’s Coffee Morning.

In addition we have to work really hard. In May our Year 6 students sit tests and our teachers Mrs. Middleditch and Mrs. Robinson really make sure we are prepared fully for them.

We also study a range of topics that include The Mayans, Walls and Barricades and Coasts. Each one is really interesting and provides different skills as we prepare to move to our next School.

Even though we work hard we also have lots of fun. To support the curriculum we go on visits, which can include museums, parks and libraries. We end the year with a fantastic residential trip, for our Year 6 students, to the Isle of Wight and our Year 5 pupils have the chance to visit Alton Castle.

In the summer term we also lead the school show, which is great fun and a fantastic production. Mrs. Middleditch is always on the watch to see who her next star is going to be.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about Robins. If you want to know more just have a look at our gallery. There are lots of examples of all the fun we have as we learn.

What we will be doing

We have a variety of responsibilities that come with being in the ‘top class’, including setting a good example for the younger children; being House Captains, leading the School Council and being Buddies with Reception Class so we can support and guide them as they join our family. During ‘Open Mornings’, we show prospective parents around our school and also lead special events like the St. Richard’s Coffee Morning.  We lead prayer and liturgy for our peers – it is so important to help our friends grow in their relationship with their faith.

We work really hard in The Robins Class.  At the end of Year Six we will be sitting tests and our teachers make sure we are prepared fully for them. We also study a range of topics that include The Mayans, Walls and Barricades and Coasts. Our teachers make sure each topic is really interesting and provide us with a variety of knowledge and skills that we will be able to build on as we go to our next schools.

Even though, we work hard we also have lots of fun. To support the curriculum, we enjoy a variety of enrichment opportunities and visits, which can include museums, parks and libraries. We end the year with a fantastic Activities Week, where we visit castles, go to London and get very wet paddleboarding.

In the summer term, we also lead the school show, which is great fun and a fantastic production. Mrs. Middleditch is always on the watch to see who her next star is going to be!

What we are looking forward to

We are really looking forward to all the challenges that this year will bring especially to Art and DT where we will be making cushions. As Robins, we’re going to enjoy having the extra responsibility of helping younger children at Sports Day and giving out the special awards at our celebration assembly. We’re looking forward to singing as part of a large choir at Young Voices and representing our school in football matches and competitions against other schools.
