Owls Class

Welcome to Owls

Our Class Teacher:  Mrs Davey

Our Class TA: Mrs Rizzo

We have completed our first year at school in the Finches class and have become expert St Mary’s learners! Our teacher is Mrs Davey and our teaching assistant is Mrs Rizzo.

What we will be doing

We learn about lots of interesting things in the Owl Class. In the autumn term, we learn about different materials in Science and our History and Geography topic is ‘School Days’. We have great fun making maps and exploring our school grounds. We also go on a school visit to Evesham and complete a fieldwork study. At Christmas time, we perform a nativity performance for the rest of the school with the other children across Reception and Key Stage One.

In the spring term, we learn about different animals and our bodies. We go on a great trip to ‘All Things Wild’ where we can see the different animals up close! We enjoy discussing whether they are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores and classify the animals into different groups! In our Topic lessons, we learn about our world. We learn about hot and cold countries and historical explorers.

In the summer term, we learn about different plants in Science and Castles in our Topic lessons. We go on a fantastic school trip to Bishops Wood where we get to learn outside all day! We investigate the different plants and trees that can be found in the woods and learn what trees need to grow and survive. We also complete our Phonics Screening Check in June. This is a test containing 40 different words that we need to read. Some of the words are real and some are pretend alien words. We do lots of learning across the school year to help us to prepare for this test.

What we are looking forward to

We are really looking forward to our school trips and learning lots of new and exciting things! We also look forward to looking after and being a great role model to the new Finches who join the school.
